About Us

Union Avenue Elementary School is the Home of the Unicorns. Our doors opened 130 years ago. We are the fifth oldest school in Los Angeles and we currently have one of the largest student populations in LAUSD. We have a wonderfully diverse staff that is ready to help our Unicorns "Learn Like Champions!

Union Avenue Elementary's Vision is to build a supportive, community-oriented educational program with the ultimate goal of empowering students to become independent, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners who are able to succeed in our diverse and changing society.

Our Mission. We believe that every child can learn. Our mission is to provide a safe environment where students can explore through sense-making, cognitively guided instruction, and project-based learning. We encourage them to share their stories and the connections that make in the classroom with their life experiences.
