Welcome to Union Avenue Elementary School, Home of the Unicorns!
With a proud history spanning 130 years, Union Avenue Elementary School is the fifth oldest school in Los Angeles. Established in 1890, our campus is a cornerstone of education in the community, continuing to serve one of the largest and most vibrant student populations in LAUSD.
Union Avenue Elementary stands as a beacon of innovation and tradition, offering programs that integrate modern technology, hands-on learning, and creativity.

Union Avenue Elementary's Vision is to build a supportive, community-oriented educational program with the ultimate goal of empowering students to become independent, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners who are able to succeed in our diverse and changing society.

Our mission is to provide a safe environment where students can explore through sense-making, cognitively guided instruction, and project-based learning. We encourage them to share their stories and the connections that make in the classroom with their life experiences.
